How to Access Your Data
The EYFS Dashboard summarises EYFS attainment data (percentages and number of pupils in brackets), allowing you to compare your key groups of children. This can be located by clicking Dashboard under the ‘Foundation Stage’ heading of the left-hand menu.
Simply fill out all the criteria you wish to look at:
- Library: Select the curriculum you are working from (Early Adopters or Original).
- Early Learning Goal: Select which area of learning you wish to analyse. You can look at any of the 17 areas individually, any of the 7 broader areas, or as an overall ELG.
- Year: Select which year of data you wish to analyse. You can look back historically at previous nursery years here.
- Term/Baseline: Select which term or baseline data you wish to analyse.
- Show Previous: ‘Yes’ will show your current data versus the previous year for comparative purposes. ‘No’ will hide the previous data.
- Press Go.
You will also be presented with a blue table directly below the dropdown menus. This requires you to choose up to 5 of your key groups/attributes at a time (E.g. Boys v Girls, Pupil Premium v Non, Ever6 v Non, SEND v Non, EAL v Non) for comparing data.
In the ‘AVAILABLE ATTRIBUTES’ column on the left, select which (up to) 5 attributes you would like to view and compare. In the ‘SELECTED ATTRIBUTES’ column on the right, ensure that the data will be making the correct comparison (e.g. left: Gender, right: Boys v Girls). This is particularly important when comparing attributes with numerous code options.
Once you are happy with your attribute selections, press ‘Go’. Please note that these can be changed at any time by deselecting the ‘available attributes’ and selecting new ones before pressing 'Go'.
You will now be presented with your attainment percentages and pupil numbers for each of your EYFS cohorts, with a total row underneath. This will be broken down into each of the (up to) 5 groups you selected from the blue Attributes table.
How the EYFS Dashboard Works
To examine more meaningful information from your EYFS Dashboard, you can use the following key:
1) Open Filters
You can use this button to filter all the data tables by any of your Attributes, which is useful for cross-referencing groups. For example, if you click to open your filters and were to select your Pupil Premium children, then the 'Boys v Girls' table would represent your 'Pupil Premium Boys v Pupil Premium Girls'.
2) Table Toggle
By clicking this button in the 'Display Options' section, the data will swap from graph form into tabular format. Please note you can click on any cell within any table to reveal a list of the pupil names (see point 8 below).
3) Bar Chart Toggle
Clicking this button will swap the data from tabular form into Bar Charts. You can then revert to tables by clicking the ‘Display as table’ button. These graphs can either be expanded into individual cohorts using the 'down arrow' symbol, or downloaded using the purple 'DOWNLOAD IMAGE' button.
4) Pie Chart Toggle
Clicking this button will swap the data from tabular form into Pie Charts. You can revert to tables by clicking the ‘Display as table’ button. These graphs can either be expanded into individual cohorts using the 'down arrow' symbol, or downloaded using the purple 'DOWNLOAD IMAGE' button.
5) Attribute Selector
As explained above, you can use the attribute selector table to choose which groups of children you would like to compare.
6) Export to Excel
If you wish to analyse this data further, you can click the ‘Export’ button to generate an Excel file containing this data. Each group will be presented on a separate worksheet within the file.
7) Expand Data Column
You can click on the name of each band in the column heading to expand that column into the sub-scores. You can do this for as many columns as you wish to break your data down as far as you require.
8) Pupil Pop Up
Clicking on any of the cells containing data will reveal the names of the pupils contained in that that percentage/number. If you click the cell where it says ‘total’, you will see a list of all your EYFS children. If you click on the cell which says ‘Reception’, you will get a list of all your Reception pupils. This list is easily printable by clicking the ‘print this report’ link. To close it down, either click out of the pop up or use the x symbol.
