The Flight Path page provides you with a visual representation of your cohort's flight path over the course of the year, highlighting which pupil's are making below, at and above expected progress.
Simply visit the Flight Path tab under the 'Cohort Analysis' sub-heading in the 'KS1-KS3' section of the left-hand menu, and fill out the following criteria:
- Year Group: Select the cohort of children you wish to look at.
- Assessment Year: Select the year of information you wish to view. This is especially useful for viewing historic data. When viewing current data, please ensure the Year Group and Academic Year are the same.
- Subject: Select the subject you wish to view. Please note that you can use iTRACK for any subject you wish, contact your local Education Consultant for more information.
- Include Leavers: This will default to say 'no'. Change it to 'yes' if you wish to include the children marked as leavers in your data.
- Assessment Points: Choose which viewing option you wish for your flight path. The 3 options will be explained in more detail below.
- Press Go.
IMPORTANT: Selecting Your Expected Flight Path
Regardless of which Assessment Point option you have selected, and especially if you are flicking between them, this next step is vital to get the page to function correctly. You must use the dropdown boxes in the grey header to select where a 'national standard child' should be working at for each Assessment Point on display.
This will vary depending on which viewing option you have selected, how your account is set up, and your approach to assessment without levels (linear or 'on track'). For more information, please contact your local Education Consultant.
This will in turn show as coloured cells on the flight path, allowing you to easily identify which children are underperforming, which ones are where they should be, and which ones may be working at greater depth/exceeding.
As a general rule, iTRACK will remember your chosen flight path the next time you log in. However, it is always worth double checking that the flight path is correct before you interpret your data.
Option 1: 'Current Year'
This option will allow you to view a full academic year of data. You will notice on the left hand side there is a button where you can toggle in/out the previous EoY data for comparative purposes.
Option 2: 'Compare Two APs'
This option will allow you to compare any 2 assessment points of data side by side. You will notice 2 additional dropdown boxes appear, where you can select the data you wish to view. Please note you can use this functionality to compare with any historic year/AP.
Option 3: 'Compare Range of APs'
This option will allow you to pick any 2 points in time, from any year group historically, and display every Assessment Point in between. This is particularly useful if you are viewing a flight path over more than a year, or mid-year to previous mid-year.
Pick your start point and end point from the additional dropdowns, and you will see the following:
Please note it is especially important when viewing in this format, to ensure you select the appropriate standard for each AP from the dropdowns.
How the Page Works
Please see the below key for useful tips on how the page operates:
1) Open Filters
You can use this button to filter all the data tables by any of your Attributes, which is really useful for analysing your key groups of children. The mandatory, nationally recognised groups are under the 'Core Filters' tab, and any set up by your school will be under 'School Filters'.
2) Export to Excel
If you wish to analyse this data further, you can click the ‘Export to Excel’ button to generate an Excel file containing this data. Each group will be presented on a separate worksheet within the file.
3) Expected Flight Path Selection
As explained above, once you've have set the expectation, the colours will appear.
4) Below/At/Above Percentages
All your percentages are at the bottom. Please note that you may be required to scroll down to see this information.
