The Progress Tracking page provides a detailed breakdown of your progress for an individual cohort. Here you will be able to visually view this data for your cohort throughout their entire time in school, and you can measure any progress period you like.
To locate this page, click on the Progress Tracking tab in the located under the 'Cohort Analysis' sub-heading in the 'KS-KS3' section of the left-hand menu, and fill out the following criteria:
- Year Group: Select the cohort for which you wish to view the data.
- Subject: Select the subject you wish to view.
- Subset: Select the subset/component you wish to view. If you are using 'iTRACK Lite Mode' this dropdown will be unavailable.
- Progress: Select the progress period you wish to view. Please see a more detailed breakdown of this in the instructions below.
- Include Leavers: This will default to say 'no'. Change it to 'yes' if you wish to include the children marked as leavers in your data.

Progress Key
The exact number of progress steps varies across the EYFS year groups, with the earlier bands requiring slightly more steps to be expected than the later bands. setup. A general rule explaining the 'progress icons' can be seen below, but please contact your local Education Consultant for a tailored Key for your account:
Please note: an 'Outstanding Progress' option can be enabled in the preferences, which represents '3 or more steps better than expected'.
Yearly Progress
For Yearly progress, simply select 'yearly' from the dropdown menu. You will notice you get a 'progress icon' appearing at the end of each full year.
2-Yearly Progress
In parts, the national curriculum is written in 2 year chunks. Therefore, if you select '2-Yearly' from the dropdown menu, then you will see your 'progress icons' appear every other year.
Key Stage Progress
If you wish to view your progress over the whole KS, simply select the 'End of Key Stage' option. You will notice your progress icon's appearing at the end of each KS. In the example below, the icon's for the end of KS2 represents the progress that the pupil's are currently on track to make.
Custom Progress - Any Period You Like!
For any other progress periods you can think of, select 'Custom' from the dropdown. This allows you to analyse any period of time you require, whether it be termly, 2-termly, 'EYFS up until now' etc.
You will notice 3 further dropdowns appear, which you need to fill out:
- From AP is the start point of the progress period you wish to measure.
- To AP is the end point of the progress period you wish to measure.
- No. Steps is the total number of steps you would expect to see for that period. For more precise information on this, please contact your local Education Consultant.
- Press Go.
In the example above, I have measured between 'Y2 EoY' and 'Y3 AP1' to generate the Autumn term's progress.
Getting the Most Out of Your Data
Please see the following chart for some useful hints and tips on how the page operates, and how to get the most out of your data:
1) Open Filters
You can use this button to filter all the data tables by any of your Attributes, which is really useful for analysing your key groups of children. The mandatory, nationally recognised groups are under the 'Core Filters' tab, and any set up by your school will be under 'School Filters'.
2) Export to Excel
If you wish to analyse this data further, you can click the ‘Export to Excel’ button to generate an Excel file containing this data. Each group will be presented on a separate worksheet within the file.
3) Expand/Collapse Year Groups
By clicking the Year Group header, you can choose to expand or collapse that year of data. By default, iTRACK will always show the full year group the pupil is in, and then just previous end of year. However you can always look back historically if you need to.
4) Sort Arrows
By clicking the arrow, it will sort your pupils into ascending order and then descending order if you click the other arrow. This is great for getting your intervention groups and higher attainers at either end of the table. This process can be repeated for any column heading, anywhere in iTRACK you see the 'arrows' symbol.
5) Notes
If you click the little 'speech bubble' icon, an unlimited character textbox will pop up. This will stay with the pupil all the way through school and can be used for any purpose the school sees fit. Documents can be uploaded using the ‘upload notes files’ link (Word/Excel/PDF/Images), with a maximum of 20 files per child. Once you have made your notes, click the save button and icon will change to 'look like it contains text', indicating that the child has notes.
6) Individual Pupil Progress Chart
If you click the little 'chart' icon, you will be taken to the individual pupil's progress chart. This can also be sent direct to parents via our parent portal, instructions for which can be found here.
7) Overriding the Progress Calculation or Manually Populating Gaps
Especially when it comes to sensitive areas like SEND children, you may feel that our progress calculations need adjusting. Or if you have been using our 'SEND/EYFS ' column on Enter Pupil Results, you will see the progress column empty, as iTRACK is unsure what to measure for pupils 'below national curriculum'. To fix this, simply click on the icon (or space where icon should appear) and select the progress value you deem to be appropriate, then the little 'person' icon will appear. You can undo this by clicking the icon again and selecting 'NA/BLANK'.
8) Progress Percentages
You will find all your progress percentages calculated for you underneath the table. It is worth noting that you may be required to scroll down to find this information, and a collated version of these can be found on our Progress Dashboard (instructions here).
