The Flight Path page for Early Years provides you with a visual representation of your cohort's flight path over the course of the year, highlighting which pupils are making below, at and above expected progress.
Simply select the Flight Path tab in the 'Foundation Stage' section of the left-hand menu, and fill out the following criteria:
- Year Group: Select the cohort you wish to view.
- Assessment Year: Select the year of information you wish to view. This is especially useful for viewing historic data. When viewing current data, please ensure the Year Group and Academic Year are the same.
- Library: Select the curriculum you are working from (Early Adopters or Original).
- Early Learning Goal: Select which area of learning you wish to analyse. You can look at any of the 17 areas individually, any of the 7 broader areas, or as an overall ELG.
- Include Leavers: This will default to say 'no'. Change it to 'yes' if you wish to include the children marked as leavers in your data.
- Press Go.
Selecting Your Expected Flight Path
The following steps are vital to get your flight path to function correctly.
Step 1: Display Options
Firstly, you must select which of the 'Display Options' you wish to use. All Assessments will show you all your bands, along with each of the sub-scores.
Summarised Assessments will only display the overall band. This is the least commonly used options, as there isn't always enough gradient without the sub-scores to show a flight path over the course of a year.
Step 2: Select Expected Flight Path
Next you must use the dropdown boxes in the purple header to select where a 'national standard child' should be working at each Assessment Point. This may be dependent on your account setup and the approach you use for Early Years. For more information, please contact your local Education Consultant.
This will in turn show as a coloured flight path, allowing you to easily identify which children are underperforming, which ones are where they should be, and which ones may need to strive for more.
As a general rule, iTRACK will remember your chosen flight path the next time you log in. However, it is always worth double-checking that the flight path is correct before you manipulate your data.
How the Page Works
Please see the below key for useful tips on how the page operates:
1) Open Filters
You can use this button to filter all the data tables by any of your Attributes, which is really useful for analysing your key groups of children. The mandatory, nationally recognised groups are under the 'Core Filters' tab, and any set up by your school will be under 'School Filters'.
2) Display Options
As explained above, here you select here whether you want to view All Assessments which will show you all your bands, along with each of the sub-scores, or Summarised Assessments which will only display the overall band.
3) Expected Flight Path Selection
As explained above, once you have set the expectation, the colours will appear.
4) Below/At/Above Percentages
All your percentages are at the bottom. Please note that you may be required to scroll down to see this information.
