The Gap Analysis page enables you to review and analyse any objective/statement ticking you have entered throughout the year using the 'Full Assign' mode in 'Enter Pupil Results', allowing you to identify specific gaps in a pupil’s learning. It is worth noting that this page will be unavailable if you have 'iTRACK Lite Mode' enabled in your preferences.
Locate the page under the 'Cohort Analysis' sub-heading in the 'KS1-3 section' of the left-hand menu, and fill out the following criteria:
- Year Group: Select the cohort for which you wish to view the data.
- Assessment Year: Select the year of information you require. You can view historically here.
- Subject: Select the subject you wish to view.
- Component: Select the subset/component you wish to view.
- Current Assessment Point: Select the Assessment Point of data you wish to view.
- Press Go.
You will then be presented with a data table showing you which objectives have been ticked, and when they were ticked.
How the Page Works
Please use the following chart to understand how the page works, and how to get the most out of your data:
1) Open Filters
You can use this button to filter all the data tables by any of your Attributes, which is really useful for analysing your key groups of children. The mandatory, nationally recognised groups are under the 'Core Filters' tab, and any set up by your school will be under 'School Filters'.
2) 'Current' Toggle
By clicking this button in the 'Display Options' section, the table below will only show the data for the Assessment Point you selected.
3) 'Current + Historic' Toggle
By clicking this button in the 'Display Options' section, the the page will now display the data from the Assessment Point you selected, along with the previous year for comparative purposes.
4) Export to Excel
If you wish to analyse this data further, you can click the ‘Export to Excel’ button to generate an Excel file containing this data. Each group will be presented on a separate worksheet within the file.
There is an option in the School Settings page, allowing you to choose the format for the data you wish to export (instructions for this here):
Short codes with appendix will export your objectives as shown on the page, with the key for the statement codes on a separate sheet.
Verbatim, without appendix will export your statements, however it will replace to code with the the full objective at the top of the Excel document.
5) Print Statements
Clicking the 'Print Statements' option will generate a printable page containing the statements for the selected subset or the overall subject, depending on which option you select from the resulting pop-up window.
6) Sort Arrows
By clicking the arrow, it will sort your pupils into ascending order and then descending order if you click the other arrow. This is great for getting your intervention groups and higher attainers at either end of the table. This process can be repeated for any column heading, anywhere in iTRACK you see the 'arrows' symbol.
7) Curriculum Objective/Statement Codes
Your curriculum for that subject/subset can be found across the top of the table, where each objective/statement is allocated a s code. '3A' in the below example represents 'Year 3, statement A'. If you hover the cursor over the code, iTRACK will pop up to inform you what the statement is.
8) Data Grid Coding
Any cell in the table containing a code means that the statement has been ticked in 'full assign', i.e. the objective has been achieved by the pupil. The code itself informs you of when the objectives was completed. In the below example, a code of '3-AP2' means that Steve Davis completed objective 3E in Year 3, Assessment Point 2.
9) Gaps
Any cell without coding are your gaps, as this indicates that the objective/statement has not been ticked in 'full assign'.
10) Percentage Met Column
The 'percentage met' column shows you what percentage of the curriculum each child has achieved. The percentage will be 100% when every objective/statement has been ticked in full assign.
11) Selected Assessment Column
The 'selected assessment' column shows you which assessment standard/band was selected for each pupil in 'Enter Pupil Results'.
12) Percentages
You will find all your percentages calculated for you underneath the table. It is worth noting that you may be required to scroll down to find this information. Here you will get detailed information about what percentage of objectives have been met, the percentages that have not been met, and when (which Assessment Point) they are being met.
